Josh Bladon (1986-2008)
|
Foreword by Gower
I knew Josh through the ClioSport.net website. He owned a bright Sunflower Yellow ClioSport 172. I always used to see him driving around town as well as at ClioSport Club meets. Through these meets Josh made many, many friends; friendships created through a shared passion for cars. He would always find and make time to engage in conversation when it came to cars!
Tragically, at the beginning of April 2008, Josh had a fatal accident at work. The large gathering of mourners at his funeral was clear indication of how popular and how loved he was. On the Saturday following his funeral a Run was arranged to Southend in his memory.
We will again be holding a memorial run in April 2009 in memory of Josh.
Always in our thoughts and hearts.

We kindly ask those who are interested in this Event to please read the following information carefully.
When is the Memorial Run taking place?
Josh's Memorial Run is planned as a 2-day weekend event over the 11th and 12th of April, 2009.
What's the plan?
Finalised plans are still yet to be confirmed but the basic plan is to enjoy a drive around the Buckinghamshire countryside with a Saturday evening arrival in Southend - such that views, sea, cars and the Fun Fair can be enjoyed by all.
Saturday 11th April 2009
We will be meeting early at Newport Pagnell Services on the M1 motorway at 9:00am (located between junctions 14 and 15). The scheduled departure time is 10:00am so please ensure you are there in good time.

Upon leaving the Services we will be taking a scenic and leisurely drive around Buckinghamshire; taking opportunities to stop for photo-shoots, breaks and lunch (remember to pack your sandwiches!) Arrival time in Southend is expected to be around 6:00pm and everyone will be free to do as they wish.

Sunday 12th April 2009
We will take the opportunity to enjoy another drive using a route different to that of the previous day. Again there will be a lunch stop along with breaks for photos and suchlike. The aim is to bring things to a close around 4:00pm.
Feel free to join us for one of the days, an evening, the whole weekend or just en-route for part of the drive. Whatever you decide to do, you can be assured that your support is very much appreciated.
Somewhere to stay?
As this is a 2-day Event, and we anticipate that there will likely be attendees from afar, discussions have taken place with a couple of potential places to stay. Namely these are the "Camelia Hotel" and the "Arosa Guest House" - both of which are detailed shortly. Both of these include VAT and breakfast in their prices.
Alternatively you are more than welcome to arrange your own accomodation if you so wish.
Note on parking:
A free public car park is available directly behind the Camelia Hotel and it is also within easy reach of the guest house (Arosa only being 4 houses down from the hotel). The hotel has CCTV covering part of the car park. However, be advised that all cars are left entirely at the owner's risk.

Serious offences or acts may be reported if deemed serious enough to warrant such actions.

The subject of safety... We will remind those attending that we do not condone/endorse racing and we fully expect attendees to be law-abiding and to drive responsibly. If you want to drive like an idiot and rag the nuts off your car then please take it elsewhere and leave the rest of us to enjoy the event!
Depending on the event it is quite possible we'll be attracting a lot of attention so please respect other road users and avoid excessive noise/speed in public and built-up areas. Also worth bearing in mind is the fact that there will potentially be lots of bikers, cyclists and horse-riders out sharing and enjoying the roads with us. You know the drill... be extra vigilant and keep checking your mirrors. Please keep it sensible.
